bunch of clips from strush wheels outta japan.
well i guess it’s been long enough. here is the AD we ran in the last issue of Focus magazine. Kenshiro Yagi, Backtail
went to the maloof money cup yesterday (it is in my buro) to see all the homies.. it was crazy hot and really freaking dirty.
i never actually went into the event. gave my tickets away. but it was dope to see all the guys from Naysayer, Prize Fighter Cut, KCDC, NYskateboarding.com and more. psyched to have a new epic free park in queens too!
OPEN team rider Jason Park just won the Utility Board Supply / DVS get Flow’d video comp. as always, our hats off to Jason.
project bushwick is putting the finishing touches on a full length video. Jayel posted some of his throw away clips. check it out.
JL’s THROWAWAY from Jonathan Shepardson-Legere on Vimeo.
i need to relax from my MTA rage. so here is one of the best things i have seen in awhile. a casual vid from Kyle Leeper and Etnies. this is a real skate vid imo. no big banger. just style and flow.
i did this mix for my friends site.. percussionlab.com, but since i also have my own little site here.. thought i would post it here. a new years mix of some glowave.. if you dont know.. well now you know.
heres something old. but whatever. this guy has to use crutches all the time. but he can still flow like a master.. and front side wall ride on crutches is pretty much 100% boss.
expedition has been dropping some cool deck graphics recently. like the ak47 board. their video from their china tour is free online. and on vimeo.
i really like the opening. the mood is perfect. i haven’t watched the rest. skateboarding is skateboarding. good opening though.
EXPEDITION – HELLO HELLO HELLO! from THE KAYO CORP on Vimeo.
so i’ve been riding a pair of “02″ ace trucks. it’s their lows, for 7.6/7.76 decks
as stock. these trucks have their own style. they have a very sharp turning axis. witch isn’t for everyone. your gonna get wheel bite at somepoint. but its FUN! to just cruise down the street.
they are crazy responsive. like an analog joy stick. its not just striaght, or turning.. ala silver trucks.
their low profile is not as low as thunder, indie, or silver lows. so i had to ditch my 1/8″ raiser pad to get back to “normal” for me. i like the profile and feel.
so the problems? well the stock bushing started to shred with in a couple weeks. what? seriously? so i put some bones mediums (yellow) in. they now feel more tech in responce. its like the best of both worlds. you lean heavy. you’ll get a sharp turn. land krook. they will lock like they were designed for tech. they are a skinny truck. some people just don’t like the way they look. witch is fair game. thats one of the thing i like. i don’t need those “wings” on my trucks.. i don’t do 10+ steps. its just not what i enjoy.
the “lowered” king pin has giving me no problems. it doesn’t look lowered at first. but, it is just a tat. perfect. the quality is top notice. they look like the forging is uppped a level from most other trucks. weirdly. they come with only 2 washers per axle. verse 4. sorta weird way to chimp out. ?
and they are really hard to find still. specially anything other then silver/raw. i hate silver/raw. (no local shops ive been to in the nyc area has them in stock.. NYC!!!)
the down and dirty. i’ve stock piled a couple set. cause, i dunno if other skaters will take to them enough for them to stay in business. i’ve been skaing since the mid 80s.. and you basicly have the same truck companies. you would think all skaters are all old conservative ladies from the midwest when it comes to new tech and design.
some people have noted that Ace’s team is all old school skaters. and yes, its true. but.. maybe they know something the kids don’t. since they have been skating longer then most of the kids coming up now, have been alive!
if you have trucks you like. dont fuck with the voodoo. but if your not sure. you should try a pair of ace trucks. they are not out to reinvent the truck. just clean it up.. and really. your trucks might be the most important part of your set up.
