there are a lot of part in a skateboard, that a lot of people don’t talk about. mainly hardware. there is a product i love endlessly, that no one talks about. what are they?
Dooks shock pads. you find them under the riser pad section. but they are not riser pads. they are soft. so once you bolt down properly. these guys may.. MAY add a 16th of an inch.
what do they. once i started using them. i don’t get vertical stress cracks anymore. witch has lead to longer board life, and longer pop life.
there is no other option, so i can’t compare dooks to anything else. they smoosh under my truck. i don’t notice them. and stress cracks around my trucks are gone.
so powell’s new video “fun!!” is available for all who wish to pay the entrance fee. i didn’t, but got to watch it anyways. i don’t know really who run’s it now. is it still peralta? powell? i dunno. the cooperate self makes the whole thing a wash. their powell, powell peralta, mini logo, bones, and more. anyways, in many ways, here’s a great example of, your only as good as the foot you put forward. do nothing, and, thats that. powell at least made the correct turn at the intersection. they got a bunch of young skaters, and went filming. coming up with a mixture of modern tech, ledge/lip tricks, and hugh drops & gaps. nothing to be scoffed at here really, skateboard wise IMO. equally as good as any of the other big videos that have come out recently. just with out the name recognition. but, thats also the biggest problem.
i mean, why care other then its powell.. and what has powell done for anyone recently. other then make great bearings, and bushings, and various stuff like that. powells current art direction aims from not good. to down right horrible.
as an old man army skater. the sound track has some good points, with 80s pop hits playing through a 3rd of the video. how did they license vanhalen?
it’s possible, the total lack of the art concept is an art concept. but thats sorta like arguing you used the color red because it was the color red, and not because you liked it more then blue, etc.
ok ok, anyways. so the vid got me psyched up on powell. i was like. yeah powell! i wonder what kinda decks you have. hey! cool ligament tech! straps of carbon, good concept, blabla. oh hai. our boards are ugly as sin, and our 2 pro models look like they may have literally been done by the skater in question.
shit. im off topic.
if you must watch a lot of skateboard video. then this is a must given powells skateboard video history. and their is a plunty a good time, and big tricks. what it lacks in style (a complete loss off), it makes up for in big tricks, and some bombastic (yeah i said it) skateboarding. at worse, borrow it, and think. hey, powells not half bad. but remember to return it. cause thats weak. the perma-borrow.
your really going on on a limb when you call your company “better skateboarding“.. and you make wheels.
i mean wheels!! does anyone make good wheels? no. its impossible.. i want the comfort of 85as.. with the power and speed of an 100a + wheel. but better does make a better wheel, depending your taste. they are hard as all get out, speedy, and they will take your abuse all day. in fact. better will replace them with in 30 days if you blow them out. and i have not been able too. they are just starting to cone. a month later! at first i got some 50s. but that was just my mistake. 50′s don’t really work in nyc for me. to small, to hard. i settled on a set of blank 52′s. these i have been on for awhile. i popped on some spitfire 52s.. then back to my better’s. they were just. better. as noted though. these are some rock hard wheels.. better won’t say how hard they are. but my guess is on 101 or higher.
they come treaded, that shockingly took about a week or so to take off. these would probably rip in an indoor park.
next up will be a set of 51m 99a minilogo’s.. (by bones). want to try something softer for a bit.
