so today i went in for some minor knee surgery. it appeared i had a meniscus tear. how much did i appear i did? after 2 weeks of knee pain. i went to see a doctor. with some quick looking at my grossly colored knee, and some ligh, but painfull squeeze. “i think its a meniscus tear. we need to have and MRI”.. ok i say. and a week later have an MRI. once all the MRI data comes back. yeap.. and meniscus tear. so, got to have some small surgery to remove the torn part. ok. not exciting. but anything to get back on my feet.. as it were. so! today was the day. i get in there. the knock me out, and i wake up about a hour later. or so. i don’t really know. and my doctor / surgeon comes in. “good new and bad new”.. as my heart sunk. “there is nothing wrong with your knee”.. as in there was no tear anywhere.
we looked at pictures from inside my knee, and everyone is pretty much dumb founded. just to be clear. i had already had 4 weeks fo pain leading up to the MRI. the MRI was about 1.5 weeks before the surgery. and, meniscus tears to not heal. look it up.
anyways so here i lay. my knee wrapped up. cause they did cut into it and probe around. but now with a total mystery. what went wrong, and where? was the MRI wrong? did my doctor. who specialises in this somehow miss it? im going to go with a fucked up MRI. but then what?
ah the wonderfull world of medicine.

its that time of year. its 4pm. its getting dark, and is 29 degrees outside.
my knee i injured 2 WEEKS BACK! seems to be only getting worse, so its off to the doctor, with figured crossed. this injury has held me from really digging into skating the new Etnies Barge sneakers. witch i wanted to write about.. you know.. by now. not gonna happen as i can barely walk.
i had just started into a set of autobahn dual core wheels. that i was gonna compare to spitfires new clear cut, dual core wheels.
also we were gonna shoot a short promo for open. but, i cant push on a board. so, its not getting done untill the knee gets sorta also. its sorta amazing how all my plans rotated around the idea of my skating. luckly i’ll be taking an extended vacation in VA. it will still be cold. but not this cold.. hopefully. witch will probably be good for my knee.
when i get back. i’ll add the new OPEN shirts to the website, if you wanna buy one. it would really help us out. oh, and you get a fresh shirt. we think.
so happy all this time of year stuff.

almost 30 odd years of skateboarding.. and i broke my foot yesterday. trading in the board for some sticks. no ideal. but there it is. it’s not a problem.. but a fact. i am one of the lucky few, i have insurance, so as my foot swelled to a tennisball. i just went to the hospital. it got me to thinking.. what do pros do when they break things. as in pro skaters. i would assume most pro skaters are not p-rod.. or xyz famous skater.. and don’t make a ton of money skateboarding. 2 months of not being able to skate. means 2 months of losing skills, and not getting, or trying to get coverage. i would think that sponsor’s would stick behind their guys and keep them paided up. i assume. what to you think? what would you do if you broke your foot? and were part of the old man army?
and i thought i was just starting to get sorta good. anyways. love to hear some injury and recovery stories. drop a line in the comments.

up next is my Emerica Heath V. Vans AVE shown down. it was a slaughter. more later.
